Clear AFS Dry Cabin
Completed in November 2017, Alcan Builders took on a smaller than traditional project at Clear AFS. The 16’ X 20’ log cabin with a 6’ deep (16’ wide) porch, was constructed with proven, durable, code-compliant construction materials and methods.
The main features of the Log Cabin are the miller spruce log walls, which provides the rustic log cabin ambience. Five windows allow for substantial light to enter and provide excellent views of the surroundings. Cedar trim adds an aesthetic flair to the windows and the door.
The cabin includes insulated metal roof and floor. 6” X 6” Pressure – treated timbers were used for skid foundation. Connections are bolted or screwed with heavy duty hardware for stout assembly and seismic resistance. The 2” X 6” floor joist system provides the depth needed for R-24 rigid insulation. T&G Underlayment-Rated ¾” premium grade plywood was utilized for the screwed and glued floor deck for easy maintenance and a rustic appeal.
Trex deck materials were used to finish the porch deck, for a low maintenance, long-lasting finish with no chance for splintering. Additionally, the handrails were constructed to meet code for children safety requirements. The cabin sleeps up to 4 total, with four Alaskan birch-framed, twin extra-long (38’ X 80”) bunk beds. A gorgeous oversized Alaskan birch table (40” X 78”) with 2 benches (12” X 78”), built in Alcan’s own workshop, charmingly decorate the inside of the cabin, next to the wood-burning stove on a steel hearth.
The Clear AFS Cabin exemplifies Alcan Builders ability to be diverse while remaining completely committed to quality work and finished product.
